Our story

A small workshop that has moved with the trade

Forty years at the bench

We have been making Glass Reinforced Plastic housings for over 40 years. The industry has changed a great deal in that time, and so have we. The materials, the methods and the standards our customers work to have all moved on, and we have kept pace with them, while holding on to the thing that has always mattered most: building tough, weatherproof enclosures that protect valuable equipment and last for decades.

Keeping pace with the trade

Staying current is part of the job. We have taken on better resins and finishes, refined how we build, and kept up with the specifications that utilities and contractors expect today, so a Celtic enclosure is made to the standards of now, not the ones we started with in the 1980s.

Small, flexible and family-run

We have stayed a small, family-run team by choice. It keeps us close to the work, gives us full control of quality, and means you deal with someone who knows your job from start to finish. That closeness is also what lets us adapt quickly, whether it is a tweak to a standard unit or a one-off design for an awkward site.

What we make

GRP enclosures for British industry

Our GRP cabinets and enclosures are used across the country, from construction sites and pumping stations to renewable-energy projects and roadside installations. They house pumps, control panels, metering and instrumentation, keeping expensive equipment safe from the weather for decades.

GRP is lighter than steel, it does not rust or rot, and it needs virtually no maintenance. A well-made GRP kiosk will still be doing its job 25 years and more after it is installed.

Creating a business that supports the local community

As a result of spending over 30 years in the GRP housing manufacting industry I decided to develop a plan to set up my own business within the local community. The economic downturn has been the catalyst which has pushed my business plan and resulted in Celtic Composites Ltd being established.

I began my career in GRP with a leading GRP housing manufacturer as part of the production team. I then progressed to become a Works Manager which then led to my role as Production Director. This could not have been achieved without a good team ethic which was essential in the production of high quality GRP housings, GRP cabinets and related GRP products to satisfy the demand of our customers.

Since the start of Celtic Composites Ltd I have strived to achieve a good working relationship with all my customers who have ranged from independent customers to nationwide DNO Companies. Understanding the requirement of the customer is vital to myself and the team at Celtic Composites Ltd and is a value we wish to fulfil at every instance.

The Company is situated within the Brecon Beacons National Park and upholds its duties to the environment and to the community. This area has seen manufacturing and employment decline for many years, with experience and determination we have a vision to expand our manufacturing capabilities resulting in a larger dedicated workforce which in turn will help the local economy. This goal will be achievable as we maintain our company values.
